Installation at a glance

Clean. Apply. Attach.

See the whole installation in one illustrated guide, then follow the detailed steps below.

Magnetic screen door installation: clean and dry the frame, apply hook-and-loop tape across the top and sides, attach and align the screen, and check the finished fit.

Use the included push pins for extra reinforcement only where suitable for your frame or wall material.

Before you start

  • Have your screen, supplied hook-and-loop tape, a clean cloth and a tape measure ready.
  • Choose a flat mounting surface on the top and both sides. Check that the door can still move freely.
  • Check all supplied fasteners. Use supplementary fixing only where suitable for the frame or wall material.
  • Follow any adhesive-specific instructions supplied with your kit, including bonding time.

Check your screen & mounting area WIDTHHEIGHT
STEP 01 / 06

Check your screen & mounting area

Lay the screen flat, identify the top and magnetic opening, and check the size against your order. Your ordered dimensions are the finished screen dimensions, including the attachment area. Do not cut the mesh or magnetic edge.

Match the screen to the full mounting area.

Clean the frame. Let it dry.
STEP 02 / 06

Clean the frame. Let it dry.

Wipe the top and both sides of the mounting surface with a clean cloth. Remove dust and grease, and let the surface dry fully before applying adhesive. Avoid damp, peeling or powdery surfaces.

A clean, dry surface gives the adhesive its best hold.

Prepare the hook-and-loop tape
STEP 03 / 06

Prepare the hook-and-loop tape

Match the adhesive-backed hook-and-loop strips to the top and side borders of your screen. If supplied separately, connect the matching faces first. Dry-fit the screen on the frame before peeling the backing.

Keep the protective backing on until the position is right.

Fix the top, from the center out START HERE
STEP 04 / 06

Fix the top, from the center out

Position the top center first, keeping the magnetic opening vertical. Peel the backing in sections and press the top strip onto the frame, working outward toward both corners. Let the screen hang freely.

Start at the center. Keep the top level.

Secure the sides without stretching DO NOT STRETCH
STEP 05 / 06

Secure the sides without stretching

With the magnets closed, work down each side and press the adhesive firmly along its full length. Leave enough slack for the panels to meet naturally. Keep the bottom from dragging or bunching on the floor.

Relaxed panels close better than tightly stretched panels.

Walk through. Adjust. Enjoy.
STEP 06 / 06

Walk through. Adjust. Enjoy.

Walk through each opening several times. Check that the magnets reconnect and that the perimeter sits against the frame. If needed, separate the hook-and-loop faces and adjust the screen position; avoid repeatedly peeling adhesive off the frame.

Test every magnetic opening before you finish.

Small adjustments, better results

Something not sitting right?

What you see What to adjust
Magnets do not meet Release some side tension. Check the top is level and the magnetic edges are not twisted.
Bottom drags on the floor Reposition the screen slightly higher using the hook-and-loop connection. Do not cut the bottom hem.
A gap along the side Check that the tape faces are fully connected and the panel is aligned with the mounting area.
Adhesive lifts from the frame Check for moisture, dust or peeling paint. A rough or powdery surface may need a suitable supplementary fixing. Contact us if unsure.

A few useful answers

Do I need to stretch the screen tight?

No. Keep the perimeter attached, but leave the panels relaxed enough for the magnets to reconnect. Too much side tension can hold the opening apart.

Can I trim a custom screen?

Do not cut the mesh, border, bottom hem or magnetic edges. Your screen is made to the ordered dimensions. Contact us with your order number and doorway photos if the fit seems wrong.

What about double or multiple openings?

The same top-first method applies. Align the screen with your supplied panel layout, then test every magnetic opening. The drawings above show a single opening for clarity.

Will the bottom attach magnetically to my threshold?

Do not rely on the bottom attaching to the threshold. A non-magnetic threshold will not provide magnetic attachment. Follow the bottom-edge arrangement supplied with your particular screen.

How do I care for the screen?

Wipe gently with a damp cloth and let it air dry. Do not machine wash. Keep sharp objects away from the mesh and check the perimeter attachments periodically.
